An iconic brand needs an iconic workplace

Engagement and experience were the two key considerations for Coca-Cola UK when they decided to downsize from their long term Hammersmith base and move into Central London. An iconic brand needs an iconic workplace.

BW was appointed to refurbish their new home – an Edwardian Baroque-style building in Wimpole Street – to deliver a bespoke and thoroughly modern workplace that played to Coca-Cola’s heritage.

After stripping the building back to shell and core, a major programme to implement the unique design was created in only 23 weeks. Rigorous planning and innovative supply chain management were required to support the client sustainability goals to achieve the SKA Gold rating and to deliver the interior designer’s vision.

Bespoke major features included a glass and steel feature staircase and a custom-built, double-sided three-storey wall that uses lighting and vintage touches to reflect the brand’s special place in pop culture history. The ceiling design was particularly innovative – we used felt acoustic rafts made of reclaimed scaffold planks to meet the strict acoustic specifications.

A new roof terrace – perfect for entertaining clients and employees – was also created to the highest specification. It included a landscaped garden with decking, a meadow and an orchard with apple trees to give Coca-Cola a stunning space perfect for socialising and sharing ideas.
