“BW’s recent relocation to 5 Old Bailey gave us the opportunity to apply our design thinking to creating a space that truly encompasses our values.

The Fit Out project

The new offices were designed by architectural firm KKS, while we undertook the fit out. Capturing the essence of our historic London location close to St Paul’s Cathedral, the design represents the exterior brought inside to create a sense of place.

A key objective was to ensure that when employees and clients emerge from the lift and enter our reception area, they are hit with an instant ‘wow’ factor. This has been achieved through a striking design combined with quality and attention to detail that exudes from every corner of the space. Visitors are met by our stunning, bespoke Corian reception desk set against a metal bronze screen installation – an inspiring backdrop that dominates the space and filters the city light and views.

The reception desk gently slopes and curves to the right towards the waiting area, which features statement furniture. To the left of the reception desk there is a welcoming business lounge, fully equipped with a communal table, comfortable Eames chairs, and dedicated ambient lighting; providing visitors and clients with a conducive working environment.

The BW brand is paramount throughout, subtly reinforced with an elegant carved ceiling light sign of our logo to welcome clients to the meeting room suite. There are a total of eight meeting rooms of different sizes to accommodate various types of meetings, all with state-of-the-art AV capability throughout – two of which combine to create a seminar space for up to 40 guests.

To further encourage and support the collaborative style of working favoured at BW, the main working areas comprise bench-style workspaces. A total of 10,000 square foot supports 130 employees across 86 desks, with the capacity to increase headcount by 30% in the future. The BW brand is subtly integrated into this space too, with blue glass tops applied to the top of the filing storage, which doubles up as an additional place for impromptu meetings.

Having the core of the building wrapped with approximately 40 linear metres of bespoke wall joinery gives centrality to the intentionally fragmented feel, and allows for a convenient space for coats, stationery, and personal storage.

The new office has created a greater collaborative space – a quality key to our values. “We know how much the detail matters to our clients – it matters to us too,” says Steve Elliott, CEO of BW: Workplace Experts. “It would be unthinkable that we would not complete our own office in line with our objective to be Defect Free at practical completion. I am delighted to say that we achieved that and stuck to our own budget and timelines. We are delighted with the space – as are our clients.”
