“BW stayed around making finishing touches. I can always phone them to get an answer.”

The Fit Out project

Due to past experience in the legal sector, BW was the perfect choice to deliver the refurbishment of the London headquarters of international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills. The brief was to create a friendlier, more accessible environment for clients and 1,600 employees.

Not only was BW competitively priced, but the team led by Contracts Director Jeff Lewis also had prior experience of working with workplace designer TP Bennett, as well as a reputation for delivering complex projects to schedule.

Completing the refurbishment within a tight 12 week programme while the client carried on with business as usual, was a significant challenge. BW worked closely with the client, liaising on a daily basis to ensure excellent communication about planned activities. This was particularly important as site access was through shared corridor routes and it was vital to minimise disruption while maintaining exacting standards for cleanliness. A notable amount of work was also completed outside of office hours to provide access to spaces without disturbing the client.

The team operated a continual cleaning cycle, while all materials were taken directly to working areas to avoid any obstruction to shared spaces. The finished result, with its contemporary design and simple palette of materials and textures, has given the workspace a new lease of life while allowing Herbert Smith Freehills to build upon its 150-year legacy.

We’re always keen to hear about projects where we can bring our fit out expertise and Defect Free delivery.
